The Maryland Traditions Folk Arts and Culture Apprenticeship Awards Program supports master-apprentice teams that practice folk and traditional arts and traditional occupational skills so that such art forms will continue to thrive in Maryland .

Maryland is fortunate to have individuals who epitomize the finest achievement in a wide variety of traditional arts and cultural traditions. This program provides Maryland citizens the opportunity to identify and reward these individuals who contribute so much to the integrity and uniqueness of our communities and state while helping to assure the continuity of these traditions for future generations. Grant amount is $2,000: $1,800 for the master and $200 for the apprentice.

Traditional folk arts include performing traditions in music, dance, and drama; traditional storytelling and other verbal arts; festival arts; traditional crafts, visual arts, architecture, the adornment and transformation of the built environment, and other kinds of material folk culture.
