Among our Maryland Masters are seven National Heritage Fellows, a prestigious honor given each year to the nation's most passionate tradition bearers, as well as three groups of ALTA Award recipients. Each of the distinguished master artists and craftsmen dubbed Maryland Masters have dedicated much of their lives to keeping their traditions alive-- whether through international performances, apprenticeships and other forms of education, extensive recording or outreach to the general public.
